This web page acknowledges allegiance to the Supreme Assembly, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, whose seat of authority is in McAlester, Oklahoma, of which Reverend W. Mark Sexson was the founder and Mrs. Marie Renda  (2006-2008) is Supreme Worthy Advisor, and to the Grand Jurisdiction of Texas of which Mrs. Marlene Dibrell, is our Supreme Deputy, and Sister Shelley Ashcraft (2007-2008) is our Grand Worthy Advisor.

On October 9, 1944, Mrs. Willie Winn, Worthy Matron of Harlandale Chapter No. 750, O.E.S., introduced Mrs. Martha Marie Whitfield, Supreme Deputy in Texas who proceeded with the beautiful institution of Hariandale Assembly, order of the Rainbow for Girls. Following the Instituting a dinner was held in honor of all attending. Mrs. Martha Marie Whitfield also took charge of the constituting, which was held on August 30, 1945. Hariandate Assembly 4139 has faithfully served the San Antonio Community since Rs early beginnings.

Charity projects include collecting canned goods, a paper drive, making USO scrap books, entertained children at the Protestants Orphans home, made Easter baskets for children in the hospital, collected coloring books and crayons for children who were hospitalized, collected clothes for the Salvation Army, and decorated coffee cans filled with cookies for a nursing home. We were involved in many projects involving children. These include collecting fruit for children's shelters, cutting pictures out of magazines and making scrapbooks for children's hospitals, making favors for area hospitals, collecting canned milk for children's shelters, and stuffing envelopes for The March of Dimes. We also had fun!! Some of those times enjoyed by all include slumber parties, sock hops, hay rides, taffy pull, Father Daughter Banquets, Mother-Daughter Banquets, and of course...attended Grand Assembly year after year. We also took time to visit New Braunfels. The neat part was we went on the train and for many gids this was their first train trip. And of course, along the way we had to make a lde money. Some of the most successful fund raisers include a box supper, sold drinks during Public School week, bake sales, selling all types of items (napkins, greeting cards, and light bulbs, to name a few), rummage sales, and hat sale. It was decided that a portion of these funds would be used each year for Grand Assembly.

We shared events with other assemblies. All three San Antonio assemblies participated in the Pilgrimage to the Alamo. We also shared the observance of W. Mark Sexson day with a joint picnic at Brackenridge Park. We voted to change our stated meeting from second and fourth Mondays to first and third Mondays. This seemed to work better. We worked with our sponsoring body to assist any way we could. The assembly bought a flag and presented it to the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star Chapter for the new hall. We helped to -raise funds@ for the Eastern Star home. We often times served pie and coffee. We entertained them with Christmas carols. Harlandale looks forward to a bright future sharing lessons of Rainbow with new friends and sisters.
